Overview
A debut solo effort for Alex Turner, this was always going to have potential and expectation to be great, and it was in my opinion. Perhaps not what people expected from the Indie Rock high-energy artist, but it was a pleasant surprise to hear a softer and more introspective piece of work - and one that compliments the film well. Being an EP, there is not a lot of choice of material here, but a lovely short listen of acoustic arrangements showcasing the versatility that Turner has an songwriter.
Recommended for Submarine film lovers who are looking for an intimate listening experience.

Having a soundtrack album/EP, in my opinion a chance to get creative with tying the artist of the soundtrack and the films’ cover. There has been no attempt of this here whatsoever and there is nothing to even make you aware that this has been made by Alex Turner. It’s a nice cover nonetheless, but we aren’t rating film covers here.
