Overview
I think the Magic Whip is an excellent moment of Blurs career and context is important here when reviewing this album. After 12 years of everyone being on their separate musical endeavours, the band reunites in Hong Kong to create a really strong album that keeps to Blurs roots, but also adding an interesting influence the band took from their time in Hong Kong. Not many songs on the album are that similar to each other, so you might think that’s not a good thing, but the album flows incredibly well within itself and I was left gutted that we might of had to wait even longer for the next Blur album (only eight years this time…)
