Overview
’Thank You, Happy Birthday’ is a wild, electrifying ride that truly showcases the band’s evolution from their debut. While their first album was bursting with energy, here, Cage fully embraces a rawer, more chaotic sound while still delivering plenty of singalong moments. The album draws from Punk, Grunge, and Garage Rock influences, creating a sound that is both unpredictable and exhilarating. Matt Shultz’s vocals swing from unhinged aggression to vulnerable sincerity, perfectly complementing the jagged guitar riffs and dynamic shifts in tone. It’s a rough-and-ready record, yet it still feels polished. ‘Thank You, Happy Birthday’ cements Cage the Elephant as a band unafraid to take risks, thriving on its unpredictability and balancing chaos with craft in a beautiful way.
Recommended for old-school Indie kids looking to sing and lash out.

It’s rough and ready, just like the music within it, but I want to see the image concealed by the actual artwork. The colours and patterns look inviting, but I’d rather see the full picture.
