Overview
’Ultraviolence’ is a haunting and sultry exploration of love, loss, and self-destruction - a recurring theme for Lana, but one that is perfectly executed. Why would anyone want that to change? The production throughout is excellent, thanks to The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, whose work complements Lana’s voice and vision more than previously thought possible. The result is a body of work filled with lush, psychedelic instrumentals and a vintage quality. Despite its darkness, there’s Lana’s usual undeniable glamour and allure, capturing the duality that defines much of her artistry. Although it’s not a radical departure from her debut, ‘Ultraviolence’ delves deeper into complex emotions here and features some genre experimentation, solidifying it as a standout album in her discography.
Recommended for anyone looking for a beautifully psychedelic and cinematic listening experience.

It’s a classy and cinematic album cover that perfectly matches Lana’s energy. Singer-songwriter album covers often follow a similar design across artists, and while this one doesn’t break any boundaries, it doesn’t need to.
