Overview
This is an album that really showcases the range and vibrant crossroads of funk, rock, and introspection that the Red Hot Chili Peppers offer. The album is a rich tapestry of energetic rhythms and melodic explorations, highlighting the band's signature funky energy while adding a harmonious string to their bow that wasn’t previously heard. John Frusciante’s guitar work once again shines with both blistering riffs and delicate melodies, creating a dynamic soundscape that truly captures the essence of the band's evolution. This album is a complete breath of fresh air for both the band members and the listeners alike. Overall, ‘By the Way’ is a testament to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' ability to innovate while remaining true to their roots, delivering a collection of tracks that resonate with both depth and danceability.
Recommended for funky folk looking for a moment of introspection and harmony.

It's a beautiful piece of art that I think really captures the vibe of the album. Forming the background is the landscape of the band’s hometown, the energetic city of Los Angeles, matched with a moody and almost cold colour palette that creates a juxtaposition between the two. I also like the fact that the figure in the painting was John’s then-girlfriend, and was also painted by her father - a nice personal touch for the band.
