Overview
MGMT’s debut album is a bold and imaginative exploration of the Psychedelic Pop and Indie Rock realms. The album is vibrant and energetic, marked by its excellent production and intricate texturing. MGMT managed to create a completely original record that not only contains modern-day classics but also includes a selection of songs that are weird and unique yet appealing even to the most mainstream listeners. The use of synths, guitars, and other electronic elements creates a colourful, almost genre-defining soundscape that pulls you into a transcendent, out-of-body experience. This album is fearless in its creativity and one not to be missed.
Recommended for those ready for a singalong and transcendent psychedelic musical trip.

It’s a great cover for this record in the sense that it’s just a bit weird - it almost looks like a couple of guys who have just taken psychedelics, with the moon rising to welcome them into an absolute trip... perhaps something they were trying to envision for listeners of the album.
